KANSAS CITY, KS — Once upon a time, the livestock came to Kansas City.
They came rolling down off the High Plains to the west into the Missouri River bottom where the stockyards were located, as though moved by force of gravity. They came from the north and the south, from Missouri as well. The Kansas City Stockyards were a sight to see, a sound to hear, an odor to smell, pens and buildings sprawling about as far as the eye could see in the West Bottoms, below the ever-growing cluster of skyscrapers on the overlooking hills. The Livestock Exchange Building, built in 1910, is still prominent as one drives into the area, even though the stockyards closed 22 years ago.
In 2020, 29 years after the stockyards were officially closed, we will host our 3rd Annual KC STOCKYARDS CLASSIC soccer tournament. This end of season event will be at Wyandotte Sporting Fields.
The KC STOCKYARDS CLASSIC is a perfect way to finish up the spring season and measure how well your team has advanced and developed over the season! The Wynadotte Sporting Fields features 8 state of the art tuft fields all in one location.
The tournament is open to all levels of competition, it’s a great venue form teams looking to finish up their season with an out-of-tow event!
