Tournament Key Benefits

Special Note

  • This tournament has been designed to specifically cater to Division 3 – 10 and recreational teams with an official state roster.
  • Teams must submit their League and tournament information and results for the 2016 Fall Season when they sign up to play at the Nutmeg.
  • Teams playing in Division I & II at Heartland cannot play in this event.
  • Teams from Topeka, Hays, Columbia, Jefferson City, Emporia, Salina etc. who play in smaller leagues (only one or two divisions) can play at this tournament if they can prove they are NOT a top premier team and don't compete at a higher level in other local tournaments.
  • Our mission for this tournament is to provide all teams with a similar level of competition, please call us if you have any questions on which division your team belong in.

Hotel Reservations
Procedure

GSI has established the following procedure
regarding tournament hotel reservations

  • A condition of acceptance requires every “out of town” team to utilize one of the sanctioned hotels and book the rooms through Global Connections Inc. (GCI) using their online request system at www.GCITeamTravel.com. Global Connections has worked closely with the local hotels and has secured the best rates possible for this event. Outstanding properties will be available at affordable prices. Various options will also be available to satisfy team needs and all budgetary considerations.
  • A team failing to utilize Global Connections will not be permitted to participate in the tournament.
  • ALL teams traveling to participate in the tournament can designate a team representative to make the entire team’s request, or team members may do their own individually online at www.GCITeamTravel.com. GCI has secured tournament room blocks at reduced rates from a wide range of hotels to suit the needs of all participating teams. A list of the hotels can be found online for this specific tournament.

What Teams Are Saying

  • I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say Thank you for organising the Nutmeg Tournament. Our Team, parents and boys alike had a fantastic experience. Your communications were very helpful (unlike most tournament organisers!). We were lucky the weather cooperated and allowed us to complete all the games.

  • Excellent weekend Huw! Thanks to you and GSI for a great weekend. As a Coach, I found the officiating and the overall experience to be top notch, which is something we don’t always find as we travel around to tourney’s and here in KC. Many comments from the parents about the organization and communication about games and weather, etc. They appreciated the availability of info, especially with the tentative weather issues. Thanks for your hard work!

  • I just wanted to send a quick thank you for the terrific time we had at the Nutmeg Tournament this past weekend. Everything was very well-organized and up-to-the-minute, and you did a great job keeping everyone apprised of possible weather contingencies. Good call on the lightning threat on Saturday evening — I've been a tournament director too and I know how hard it can be to make that decision early enough to keep everyone safe.

  • Our team really enjoyed playing in the Nutmeg tournament. We know as a U12 team playing up to U13 we will have challenges, with that being said I had several parents ask me a question I could not answer. The Quest Predators (not Blue) are a KC Metro league A1 division team. Our parents asked what A1 (top division) in KC Metro league equates to in Heartland. While we lost that game 3-0, the boys had great fun frustrating that team and not letting them blow us out. We used the experience as a positive. The Center Referee in that game was the absolute best I have run across in any tournament that we played in. I want to compliment him and both AR's.
